Join us to celebrate 10 years of Rab-Rab Press, an independent publishing platform that redefines the relationship between experimental art, radical politics, and critical inquiry. Over three days, the Museum of Impossible Forms is proud to present a dedicated program featuring an exhibition, a book launch, talks, music, and a sale of books and posters.
Founded in Helsinki in 2014 by Sezgin Boynik, Rab-Rab Press has built an international reputation for its bold editorial approach and cutting edge content—combining experimental art and leftist politics with scholarly rigor and a punk ethos. Its flagship publication, Rab-Rab: Journal of Political and Formal Inquiries in Art, alongside nearly 40 books, continues to push the boundaries of publishing.
The celebration opens with an exhibition showcasing ten years of Rab-Rab’s work, including periodicals, books, objects, and posters that provide a comprehensive overview of the press’s achievements. This marks the first Rab-Rab retrospective in Helsinki. The evening will conclude with a DJ set by Grrrt, the force behind the Red Wig label and a long-time collaborator with iconic bands such as The Ex and Dog Faced Hermans.
The program continues with the launch of the first issue of ULTRA-RED: A Journal of Militant Sound Inquiry, an ambitious project by veterans of political sound art. This journal engages with popular education and collective listening practices. The day will also feature Ott Kagovere, a long time collaborator of Rab-Rab Press, who will give a lecture ‘On Materialist Aspects of Book Design’. And a conversation between Sezgin Boynik and Giovanna Esposito Yussif about Rab-Rab’s future.
The final day invites attendees to enjoy the exhibition, browse the books, listen to music, and share a warm cup of glögi!
